A Study on the Job Satisfaction of Health Promotion Program Workers

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to survey and analyze the degrees and influence factors of job satisfaction of health promotion program workers" in health center, health subcenter and community health post in Jeonbuk Provinces.
A questionnaire was devised consisting of total 30 items including 5 items of wage, 5 items of relationships with colleagues, 5 items of supervisors, the organization, 5 items of job speciality and 5 items of duties. Total 141 questionnaires were collected. The period of research was from september 25 to october 22, 2004. The statistical methods to analyze the data included frequency distribution, percentile, reliability analysis, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson"s correlation analysis.
The results of the study are as follows:
First, the total job satisfactions of the respondents appeared to be highly with a mean of 3.16. By subarea, they showed the degree of wage(M=3.31), relationships with colleagues(M=3.27), supervisors(M=2.98), the organization(M= 3.01), job speciality(M=3.41) and duties(M=2.86). Respondents showed the highest degree of job satisfaction in job speciality. On the other hand, they showed the highest dissatisfaction with duties.
Second, the difference on job satisfaction by 3 variables are as follows.
1) Age : total job satisfaction by age made no significant difference; 30¢¦39 years old(M=3.13), 40¢¦49 years old(M=3.18) and 50¢¦59 years old(M=3.17).
2) Academic background : total job satisfaction by academic background made no significant difference; graduated high school(M=3.25), collage(M=3.17), graduated university(M=3.15) and postgraduate university(M=2.91)
3) Place of duty : total job satisfaction by place of duty made significant difference; health promotion program workers" who health center(M=3.29) and health subcenter(M=3.21) more highly total job satisfaction than community health post(M=3.06). By subarea, they made significant difference of relationships with wage, colleagues, supervisors, the organization, job speciality and duties.
Third, the results of Pearson"s correlation analysis showed all positive relationships among the six areas of job satisfaction(wage, relationships with colleagues, supervisors, the organization, job speciality and duties). Especially, there were the highest correlations between total job satisfaction and the organization(r=.792, p£¼.01) and highly between wage and the duties(r=.556, p£¼.01).
